I love technology and building systems—but the best parts of my life are at home:
my family, our small zoo of pets, and a workshop full of sawdust and laser light.
Family
The center of everything else.
I’ve been married for over 25 years, and that partnership is the constant
thread through every chapter of my career. We’ve raised one son who now
attends the University of Michigan—something I’m incredibly proud of.
Cheering on U‑M has become a family sport.
We share a home in South Lyon, Michigan.
There are usually cats on the keyboard and a lizard watching from the tank.
Writing
The Maker's Promise — The Age of AI, The Rise of Us
I wrote a book about the future we're building: AI, micro‑factories, local economies,
and the return of human capability. It's not a manifesto—it's a map for makers, builders,
and anyone who wants to participate in what comes next.
When I’m not working on large‑scale systems, I like building smaller, tangible ones:
furniture, custom pieces, and laser‑cut designs. There’s something grounding about
going from an idea in your head, to a design on screen, to something you can hold.
Woodworking projects—from practical to experimental.
Laser work: signs, inlays, and custom designs.
Often driven by code: parametric designs, generative patterns, and automation.
